Ricardo watches them both steal a lady's bracelet but he decides not to report them to the authorities because he has fallen in love with Laura. A light-hearted comedy of errors including some beautiful songs by the inimitable Carlos Gardel.

When his uncle suddenly arrives in New York, he soon discovers the money he regularly sends to his nephew is used on women and drinks instead of for business endeavors, as he was led to believe.  But Alberto decides -with the cooperation of his fiancée, who is also his secretary and his manager- to convert his uncle to "the good life" to convince him to continue subsidizing Alberto's lifestyle.
