The Pan American Symphony  Orchestra (PASO) was founded over 30 years ago by our dynamic music director, Sergio Alessandro Buŝlje, to introduce the Washington, D.C. area to symphonic music by Latin American and Latino composers.

PASO aspires to:

  • Lead in premiering new works by Latin American composers.

  • Lead in showcasing Latino music talent.

  • Gain new listeners through small intimate concerts at small venues and big concert experiences at larger venues.

PASO strives for:

  • Artistic excellence

  • Impactful interaction with our audience to introduce them to the complex, melodic, and rhythmic music from Latin America.
  • Easy accessibility by keeping ticket prices reasonable and offering some free concerts every season at different venues throughout the city.

PASO strives for:

  • Diversity in programming, artistic personnel, board members, and audiences.

  • Collaborations with area schools and other arts organizations in the metropolitan D.C. area

  • Providing visibility and opportunity to new Latino composers and music soloists by premiering their works and featuring them in concerts at popular theater venues, such as the Kennedy Center.
