Recital with Pablo Estigarribia

Embassy of Argentina,1600 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC

Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Argentine wine reception to follow the concert

Award winning tango pianist, Pablo Estigarribia, is part of Victor Lavallen's tango orchestra in Buenos Aires.  His recently produced recording of tangos on piano, Tangos para Piano, has received rave reviews by music critics and the public alike.  Tonight's performance highlights some of Estigarribia's own compositions, in addition to nuevo tangos and traditional tangos.

Admisssion $30, includes wine reception after the concert.  Call 240-242-8032 for tickets or order here

It can be said that Estigarribia expands the tango from inside, without fusion.  Notably a disciple of pianist Fernando Perez, his journey through the classical repertoire hovers momentarily over this album.  You can smell  a certain impressionistic perfume from El dia que me quieras  or a brash Liszt-like charm in Lo que vendra, that is among the freshest and least stereotypical interpretations of a Piazzolla composition that has been heard in a long time. --  Review of Tangos para Piano in Clarin newspaper, Buenos Aires.
